Southern Sea Otter (Enhydra lutris)
The heaviest member of the weasel family, the sea otter is the second smallest marine mammal. Unlike other marine mammals, they do not have a layer of blubber to help keep them warm. Instead, they have the densest fur in the animal kingdom, ranging from 250,000 to a million hairs per square inch.
About the Artist: Lizzie Harper studied Zoology at Bristol University before taking up illustration at City and Guilds at Art School in London and at Bournemouth and Poole College of Art and Design.
