Description
When you are hearing the quintessential barking noises of seals, often played in movies, this is depicting the California sea lion. They are the only seal that make the distinct barking noise. They are noisy, social and gregarious. Unlike the elephant seal, they can actually utilize their front flippers and also rotate their ankle bones so that they can walk on all fours when on land. California sea lions can be seen off the California Central coast year round, but are less frequent in the summer months.
