Description
Tidepools are comprised of numerous zones such as splash zone, high tide zone, middle intertidal zone and low intertidal zone. Each of these zones provide specific ecological habitats and with them are a diversity of species adapted to those environmental conditions of each zone. Its important when viewing tidepools that you don’t move any creatures as they are in the exact space they are supposed to be in.
When the tide goes out, you can witness the steady and diligent activities of the striped shore crab, to the more inconspicuous activities of the little brown barnacle and the swaying of the rich green scouler’s surf grass. All playing there role in the delicate ecosystem we know as the tidepools.
