Did you know that when elephant seal pups are born, they already weigh about 70 pounds? In the 28 days to follow, they nurse on their mothers milk which is nutrient and fat rich milk. By the end of the 28 days, they have quadrupled their weight. At that point, they are weaned from their mothers milk and are now called ‘Weanlings’.
