There’s lots of excitement at Piedras Blancas Northern Elephant Seal Rookery. The first bull (adult male elephant seal) has arrived for the Winter birthing and breeding season!
Friends of the Elephant seal docent Max Fowles, sighted him this morning.”I actually heard him from the north beach and took a walk to check him out. He never came out of the water and was just kind of hanging out, vocalizing, and letting everyone know he was there.” Adult male elephant seals are the first to arrive, followed by the pregnant female seals.
