Description
These collectable porcelain miniature sea otters are handmade and hand painted with very fine detail.
A keystone species, the sea otter is a direct indictor of the health of the kelp forest and the ocean as a whole. Sea otters serve as ecological stewards of these forests through their harvesting of sea urchins. Without otters the urchins cause destructive damage to the vitally important kelp forests.
The southern sea otter is still a threatened species. Always give them plenty of space when otter viewing. If they stop what they are doing and look at you, you are too close.
